• Sneak peak at the Canon 450D

DPReview have a hands on preview of the new Canon 450D DSLR! Specs look impressive, and as the Canon 400D is still being manufactured and sold I’m sure there’ll be some great deals on the older camera.

They also have a report listing what has changed since the Canon 400D. 12MP sensor, spot metering, 3″ LCD, auto lighting, something called highlight tone priority and more. Are you tempted yet? Must keep credit card in wallet …

No, I’m not that tempted. The Canon 20D will do me for at least another year! (via Treasa)

  • London Eye

The London Eye (or Millenium Wheel as it is also called) is clearly visible in this shot of London City Center taken last weekend as my plane banked on approach to Heathrow Airport.

We arrived around 7am when it was still dark. Thankfully I had my camera in a small bag at hand because I had missed some great shots of Tuscon, Arizona because my camera had been tucked away in the overhead bins.

Sorry for the large file size. It’s a noisy image, and Jpeg compression isn’t that great with random noise.

  • Horgans of Blarney

The Irish flag flies outside Horgans of Blarney, a souvenir shop in the village.

Despite the fact that it’s between the butcher’s and a pub, I’ve never been in there. I doubt most locals have been.

Still, nice to see the flags waving!

    Sunset over Garrettstown Beach.

You should see the incoming traffic graph because of all the bounced messages. I have now shut down Postfix, and redirecting email to through my domain registrar, Joker.com who hopefully can handle the load better. Email to donncha@inphotos.org may not reach me for several hours however.

  • Carroll’s Quay Apartments

This is the apartment block that sprang up opposite the car park, from which I took this photo.

The building itself is a dull grey monstrosity. Large windows look out on the street, hardly offering any privacy for residents. Tiny balconies sit outside some of the windows.

  • Shih Tzu on a sunset beach

Our Shih Tzu Oscar on Garrettstown Beach again. We forgot to bring a ball with us but Oscar went running after anything I threw.

He never did catch the object. I guess there’s nothing quite like a tennis ball eh?

I love the evening sun on him in this picture!

At the corner of the main green in Blarney sits Emerald House B&B. I’ve never stayed there but they have a great location, right next to Blarney Castle.

An ice cream van in December? Yes, Mr Whirly was in Kinsale. Obviously someone isn’t bothered by the cold!

  • Towering over Cork City

This tower is visible from a few places in Cork. I remember seeing it from near The South Infirmary and this is it seen from the multi storey carpark on the Grand Parade.

Is it up by Barracks Street?

I’m in Arizona for the week. Postings may be late in the evening.

  • Big brother is watching you

Big brother is watching you, wherever you go! CC TV cameras are sprouting up everywhere.

This one is just outside the AIB in Blarney. I happened to go to the AIB in Blackpool and counted at least 3 cameras near the entrance.
