Clontarf Bridge at night

Clontarf Bridge in Cork City joins Lapps Quay to Albert Quay where the City Hall is situated. The construction cranes in the background are those at the site of the Elysian pictured previously.

This picture was taken on Monday night when several members of Mallow Camera Club walked the streets of the city taking photos of the streets and the people out on a cold December night. I didn’t have a tripod with me but there is enough street furniture to suit most circumstances and if not, then a wallet stuffed under the lens makes a shot from the ground more interesting!

Google Maps has a relatively good shot of the bridge if you’re interested!
I didn’t know the name of the bridge but this page came to my rescue. Thanks Blue Dolphin!

Bike Lane

Riding a bike anywhere on today’s streets is almost a suicidal pursuit but bike lanes help. Here a bus drove past as I took this shot in an urban tunnel in downtown San Francisco.

Pier 38, San Francisco

Pier 38 is where True Ventures have their San Francisco office. It was the location of a great post-WordCamp party last August. It was such a beautiful night I had to take a shot of the moon and lights reflecting in the water.

The Golden Bay Bridge in San Francisco

The Bay Bridge in San Francisco all lit up at night. The lighting on the bridge casts a golden glow over the water that is beautiful to watch and photograph. More on Wikipedia.

Niall Kennedy walked with myself and Bryan Veloso around the Ferry Building on the night before WordCamp and we got some great shots.
You can see the pier to the right of this image here in more detail with a super reflection.

Waiting for Passengers

People wait expectantly in San Francisco International Airport for the first sight of someone they know to appear in the crowd off a plane.

Toni, Andy and I were there to meet Podz off his plane. I had flown in earlier in the day and was almost asleep on my feet but I managed to make this hand held long exposure shot!

I like this: Daft Punk at Marley Park because I wanted to go, heard that they were brill in Scotland, but Donal didn’t think much of their gig in Dublin. Nice shots of their light show though!

Honest Smoothies

We bought smoothies in Honest, a small shop in Dublin. They were having problems with their machines and gave us one of the smoothies free but they didn’t taste all that great unfortunately.

We Went Bowling

We went bowling today, and I took a few shots. So far nobody has attempted to kill me for shooting so many photos!

An open air meeting of Automattic yesterday went superbly, although we’re all a little burned. Sitting in the afternoon sun in a park by the Golden Gate was worth it though! Thankfully my luggage came, along with my suntan lotion.

iPhoto isn’t *that* bad, you’re limited in what you can do, but I haven’t got X11 installed so I can’t run the GIMP. For some reason, the dmg file off Apple.com refuses to install because it’s an older version than software already on the machine. Any Mac head know what that’s about?

Moynihan’s Poultry

A long exposure shot in the English Market in the vicinity of one of the many chicken meat shops.

The camera was set to f/8.0 and placed on top of a wall. In this semi-dark passage the exposure was 1/4 second blurring the passing people nicely but capturing the relatively motionless shop keepers.

Kay O’Connell’s is probably the biggest of the fishmongers in the English Market, Cork.
