Donncha, Robert, Tom and Maryam

From left to right, Donncha, Robert, Tom and Maryam
Robert Scoble and his wife Maryam are in Cork for an IT@Cork conference tomorrow. They visited Blarney this morning with Tom Raftery. I can confirm that Robert did kiss the Blarney Stone, but the pics I got aren’t good enough to publish unfortunately!
He has the “official” photo so I’m sure he’ll scan that in when he gets home!Blarney, Blarney Castle, Cork, Cork Photos, donncha, Ireland, Irish photos, Maryam Scoble, maryam-scobe, People, Photo, robert-scoble, Sigma 18-200, tom-rafteryWritten by

Q Here

I’m going to Dublin on Wednesday and wanted to buy my train tickets in plenty of time. Here’s a shot of the queue outside the ticket office in Kent Railway Station, Cork.
Tickets are expensive at 56 Euro for a return ticket to Dublin. A 160 mile journey that takes almost 3 hours!Written by

Us Today
Us, the photographic record of Ireland on October 1st, 2005 went on sale yesterday and I bought my copy today!
I’m really impressed with what they did and I’m certain that it’ll sell out in no time at all. I think my favourite image is the black and white photo taken at a retirement home where the photographer’s grandmother is living. His father is leaning down, touching his forehead to his mother’s while the rest of the room blurs to insignificance.I went through the book counting my images, and came across 8 of them! Here’s the ones that made the cut:
Plus two which I thought I had posted but seem to have disappeared! I’ll post them later!

Waltzers in Crosshaven!

If a Cork person tells you they’re going to the Merries, don’t look at them strangely. They want to go to the funfair!
The Merries in Crosshaven have been there for years, and last September myself and Jacinta went on the Waltzers. It was a slow day, and early in the evening so we were the only occupants and I’d swear the attendent made it go a lot faster than normal!
It was fun for the first minute, but after that my neck got sore, and I just wanted off! We stumbled off shortly afterwards while the attendent sat down for a smoke..Written by

Hazel O’Connor live in An Cruiscin Lan, Cork

Hazel O’Connor performed in An Cruiscin Lan last night. She has a great voice, and her songs are very emotionally charged and from the heart.
I loved how she told a short story about each song. It really brought it home how her mind works.Aperture ƒ/3.3 Camera DMC-FZ5 Focal length 24.6mm ISO 400 Shutter speed 1/10s Written by
