Boy all alone on the street

It’s strange how you can be stuck in your own little world and not be aware of anything around you.

All around this boy were couples, either hand in hand, walking together or even framing him in the middle of the image, but I’m struck by his solitary movement through the street. He look lost in thought.

Treasa has discovered wideangle. I can’t wait to see what results she gets with it. I remember shooting skateboarders in Cork while the almost flew over my head. At least there I could dodge out of the way, especially for one little a**hole who tried to land on me each and every time..

Sometimes on a cloudy and dark day something unexpected can brighten your day. These sexy red boots had that effect and I quickly grabbed this shot!

I can’t imagine the pain of walking in shoes with such high heels however. *shudder*

A child’s smile

A smile brightens up anyone’s day. When it’s a child smiling it’s extra special.
This was shot on St. Patrick’s Bridge, Cork just after the St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 17th. The crowds opened up for a few seconds and I briefly saw father and son.

Cork City as seen from the top of the carpark on the Grand Parade. The big ugly white building is the tax office on O’Sullivan’s Quay, the church is a disused one nearby. I’m not sure of the name off the top of my head, anyone?

Technique:
1. Use two layers, one over and the other underexposed and join at the horizon using a gradient layer mask. Erase and fill in where necessary using the mask.
2. Use an overlay layer to create the nice vignette effect at the top of the image.

The image needs to be slightly rotated I think, I spent so much time getting the horizon correct I didn’t notice how crooked things were!

A young lady checked her bag just outside Paul Street Shopping Centre in Cork. Wide angle lens makes for weird contortions but I like it!

Pictured several months ago in February, pedestrians were blocked off from the construction work by high fences but not high enough to stop someone sticking a camera over the top.

This is one of the construction vehicles. Looks like a mix of a forklift and a crane doesn’t it?

It is wonderful to see a child smile and laugh and this little fella certainly was cheerful! Three buggies in one shot, tell me there isn’t an explosion in births in Ireland!

This was shot on Patrick’s Street, right in front of Boots. There’s someone eating in Abrakebabra in the background!

I found out that my Thieving Duck was used by the News of the World last Sunday without permission. Thanks Ricky for leaving that comment. I’ve emailed their newsdesk so hopefully I’ll hear back from them soon.

I made this image of the guy in the hat on Patrick’s Street last February and I knew I had a great street shot. I have no idea what those people in the car are doing but they left shortly after.

Walking through a building site can be a hazardous task, especially when it’s one of the main streets of a city. Thankfully there are signs to lead the way through the maze of construction equipment, pot holes, broken paving and pipes. And then you get to the construction site.
