The Capoeira Club on Douglas Street held a day out for the kids just over a week ago in Fitzgerald’s Park in Cork. Unfortunately we arrived just as everything was wrapping up but I got a couple of shots off.
There was a great party atmosphere. Parents were there with kids, people sitting around, chatting, singing and dancing, and even a couple of dogs including Oscar! Next time we’ll try to make it earlier. Thanks Sharon for telling me it was on! See Mel in the background?
Unfortunately the light wasn’t the best and with fast moving legs, arms and bodies I was never going to fully freeze the action. More to come over the next few days.

The only reason I was in the background recording the event and not playing is because I damaged my knee a few weeks ago in training and it’s still not right. Really should get it checked by a doctor/physio.
Instructor Gaucho (blue T-shirt – singing and playing the berimbau in the centre of the roda) is my instructor and teaches in Cork Capoeira Academy, 77 Douglas St.
Instructor Tatu (behind Gaucho – playing the atabaque) teaches in Ennis.
Mestre Piau (blue T-shirt to left of photo) is the head of our group Grupo Candeias in Ireland and is one of only 5 Mestres (masters) in Grupo Candeias worldwide. He teaches in Limerick.
Thanks Mel for the comment, and the names. I have a couple of photos to put up after lunch, and then a few more to work on tonight for the next few days!
