There are I think 3 adult stores in Cork. Two are down by Parnell Place, or at least they were, and the other is pictured above!
One of the adult stores in Cork is down a small, narrow little road called Grafton Street. The alley is so small that it doesn’t even appear on Google Maps. It does show on Yahoo Maps but you’d be forgiven if you never noticed it before.
This was shot from the Grand Parade multi-storey car park which backs onto the road. I was really happy to get the flashing neon sign while it was illuminated!
The Sony repair centre is just across the alley from the store, the only reason I’ve ever gone down there, when I tried to get my Sony 717 repaired.
No, before you ask, I’ve never darkened the doorway of any of those shops!

Look up. The trails of cloud or “chemtrails” left by planes could be poisoning you! Really! It’s all on the Internet!
The Chemtrail conspiracy theory claims that some trails left behind jet aircraft are different in appearance and quality from those of normal contrails, may be composed of harmful chemicals, and are being deliberately produced, and covered up by the government. These unusual trails are referred to as “chemtrails” (a portmanteau of “chemical trails”).

Like the stone laid by Barbara Jessie Burton in 1927, this doorway probably goes unnoticed by most people on Prince’s Street. It’s right next to the stone linked above, but the door is usually closed.
I spotted this colourful mosaic out of the corner of my eye and recognised the Burton name from my previous post.

The old Dunnes Stores on Patrick’s Street is now only a shadow of it’s former self. All that remains of the building is the front facade and a small portion of the side walls.
Construction work on the Paul Street development has levelled most of the back buildings in a square block, exposing the internals of other buildings to the elements.
I spotted photos hanging on the rear wall of a room left open to the elements after demolition. Surreal!
If any business person from Acadamy Street is reading this, can I go to the top of your building and shoot the construction site from on-high? Please!

One of the more hair-brained ideas of Eamon O Cuiv, the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs was to proclaim that the official names of all towns in Gaeltacht areas would be the Irish names.
I’m all for efforts to make Irish more appealing and stronger but what was he smoking when he came up with this? All the road signs to towns and villages in Gaeltacht areas now only show the Irish names. Even Irish visitors who frequent the areas have trouble matching road signs to their maps. Who knew that Ballydavid was Baile na nGall for instance?
The good people of Dingle took matters into their own hands by stencilling the English name of their town under "An Daingean" on most road signs, restoring them to their original state. I only saw a couple of signs that hadn’t been modified and those were well out of reach.
I wonder will Minister O Cuiv change his name to O Caoimh as a show of solidarity with the people of Kerry?
(No, he’s not a relation, despite the fact that our surnames sound the same!)

Cork Film Festival starts on the 14th of October this year and will run until the 21st.
They’ve obviously spent quite a bit on advertising as these banners are visible all the way up Patrick Street.
Still, I’ve never been to a film during the festival. Others take time off work and sit in darkened theatres for the duration of the festival soaking up the celluloid culture.
