Children, wait in line

Children wait for their teachers in down town Chicago last year. They were standing on the pavement (oh ok, side walk) near the Chicago Board of Trade. I presume on a school outing, hope they enjoyed themselves!

I’ve been holding on to this photo for months now and since I don’t feel like working a shot this morning, this image finally sees the light of day!

Cobh Peoples Regatta – Flash Harry

Flash Harry, a Queen tribute band played to the crowd at the Cobh Peoples Regatta last weekend after the fireworks. They were great, driving the crowd wild!
*phew* This post took ages to do, had to get up early to work on this one. Hope you enjoy the photos!

You can find out more about Flash Harry on their website.
Sorry if you’re on dialup, this may take a while to download!

Who’s for supper?

A mural on a wall in Dublin a few weeks ago.

We passed this while walking back to our hotel. I get the feeling there’s a story behind this picture. Does anyone know it?

Six Apart Mark

Niall Kennedy drove myself and Mark Jaquith around on a small sight seeing tour of the local attractions in San Francisco after WordCamp last Saturday.
A visit to the offices of Six Apart proved to be too good a thing to pass up so we posed for a few photos on their door step!

WordCamp was great, I met really nice people, I uploaded a set of photos to Flickr, linked to a few reports on it, and was very glad I got home on Tuesday. Imagine having to put your camera equipment into the hold of an airliner?

Honest Smoothies

We bought smoothies in Honest, a small shop in Dublin. They were having problems with their machines and gave us one of the smoothies free but they didn’t taste all that great unfortunately.

In the background is the famous Golden Gate Bridge leading to San Francisco. Thank you Diane for the directions to this amazing viewing point and thank you Toni for the lend of the car!

We Went Bowling

We went bowling today, and I took a few shots. So far nobody has attempted to kill me for shooting so many photos!

An open air meeting of Automattic yesterday went superbly, although we’re all a little burned. Sitting in the afternoon sun in a park by the Golden Gate was worth it though! Thankfully my luggage came, along with my suntan lotion.

iPhoto isn’t *that* bad, you’re limited in what you can do, but I haven’t got X11 installed so I can’t run the GIMP. For some reason, the dmg file off Apple.com refuses to install because it’s an older version than software already on the machine. Any Mac head know what that’s about?

Andy in the car

Andy Skelton pictured in the back of Matt’s car here in San Francisco!
This is an experiment in iPhoto because I can’t ssh home!

Andy took a photo of me in the airport as we waited for Podz. I was wilting and falling asleep on my feet.
Note to everyone – don’t pack your shoes in your luggage. If you’ve walked through fertilized grass in the previous year, the US security scanners will detect it as an explosive! My bag arrives tomorrow..

Child Asleep

A child sleeps while the rest of his family mill about.

Taken in the same market as yesterday’s music posters in Dublin.

Middle East War Protest

On Saturday afternoon, Cork Alliance Against War held a protest against the war in Lebanon.

After reading this story about the Kudsi family I have a lot more sympathy for them. Their house was bombed early one morning and most of the household was wiped out.
“In the early hours of the next morning, as Rayan, 30, slept near her daughters Alice, 6, and Celine, 3, an Israeli warplane dropped two one-ton bombs on their house in Hoshe, a village south of Tyre.

Rayan, her girls and her 78-year-old grandmother Um Zuheir were killed, probably when the first bomb struck the villa’s concrete roof just after 4.30am. The family’s tenants, a United Nations official from Ghana and his wife, also died.”

Branedy says it better than I could. Israel really has lost the war.
