Queen’s Old Castle

After yesterday’s shot I decided to take a photo of the Virgin Megastore which now occupies the site of the old Queen’s Old Castle Shopping Center. Off to the left is the entrance to Argos. No misleading titles today!
Shot was taken with the camera lying on the ground and I can tell you I got some funny stares from people.

A Virgin in Cork

Taken outside the Virgin Megastore on the Grand Parade Cork.
People use this area to meet all the time so there’s always a good crowd. The building behind me was the location of the Queen’s Old Castle shopping center which was named for Queen Victoria.

Capitol Cinema, gone

The Capitol Cinema in Cork closed it’s door to audiences yesterday. Ryan has photos from last night too.
According to what he read in the Examiner, the building will now be used for apartments and retail purposes. I can’t complain, this particular cinema has been in a bad state of repair for a long time although it had ye olde style theatres. I remember seeing Gattaca in screen 3 several years ago and it was in a tiny room with vertical patterned wallpaper.
The main theatre was much larger but other cinemas around Cork attracted the audiences.
