Pink on Pink in London

·

Sometimes the photography gods just hand you a gift, and this was one of those moments. I was walking through central London when I spotted this woman standing at the kerb in a pink striped shirt — and directly behind her, as if placed there by a set designer with a very specific sense of humour, sat one of London’s famously over-the-top pedicabs, absolutely dripping in hot pink and white faux fur.

The colour match was uncanny. She had no idea, of course.

@donncha this is a gift indeed!!! wow!! what a great photo ahh i love it! 🖤 it may be a gift in a way, but your talent and work at the craft are what really helped you create that image in the end!

@dumdumdelish thank you! I came prepared with my camera ready to take the photo but street photography is a lot of luck too. I really love this one though. 🙂

@donncha I think the Greggs presence is key here 😀

@oisin Ha, I wondered about that. I don't know Greggs at all! I just had to Google it since you mentioned it, and I guess they're well known in the UK.

@donncha oh god yes they are cultural marker and also I think, a cultural metaphor that in my mind aligns with a kind of a daily humdrum existence, hovering solidly in 'mid' — and then suddenly, boom! Massive Pinkness Explodes!

@oisin damn, I totally missed that, but I understand. Nice!
