Whirling around and around

Posted on 26 November 2007

A merry-go-round or whatever you call it kept the kids entertained in the Peace Park last night as Santa visited courtesy of 96FM.
Even the Lord Mayor of Cork turned up. He had no problems finding parking. I saw his car parked up on the broad new pavement outside the park. The “07 C 1″ number plate is very distinctive.

Thanks! I didn’t know either. Luckily we came across it while on the way to Subway on South Main St. :)

What a fabulous shot, Donncha! Came across your site by a fortunate accident – I was searching out sites to find a copy of the 1933 version of the film, “Alice in Wonderland”. A great photo to inspire my search! Thanks! carol.

nice capture.. what type of settings did you use in general for that effect?

    Thanks Kieran,

Camera was in Aperture priority mode and according to the exif data it was set to f/8 which gave me an exposure time of 1.3 seconds.

I have other shots taken with a smaller aperture but the exposure time was too long. All the figures around the carousel (I knew I’d remember that word eventually!) were too blurred.

Shot from the surrounding wall by resting the camera on it! :)

Thanks for sharing the info Donncha… you have a unique style.
I was wondering how you got the people around the carousel so sharp and still… now I know… cheers
