A Welsh Sunrise
In what seems like a lifetime ago we visited Wales, exploring some of the towns and countryside near St. David’s, Newport and elsewhere. Here’s a sunrise outside St. David’s. Up early at 5am. Lovely to be out so early when the world is so quiet.
Sunrise over Blarney
The sun rises over the houses of Blarney early one morning at the end of March, 2022.
Morning Light on Blarney Castle
This morning is a beautiful start to the week. Fog in the distance and the fiery orange ball of the sun shining through clear skies. Blarney Castle was lit up in a lovely orange glow and I had to spend a few minutes away from the busy bustle of life to get this photo.
Sunrise in Blarney
The sun rises slowly over the horizon almost exactly 4 years ago in March 2018.
Some sunrise this morning
The colours in the sky this morning were unreal for a few minutes. Reds mixed with purples. Deep shadows in the clouds. Wonderful.

A New Day Dawns
The sun almost breaks over the horizon on a lovely October morning in Kerry last year. Happy new year! Thank you for visiting or subscribing to this blog. Please say hi in the comments! I’d love to hear from you!
The sunrise flows
Because of the disc’s enormous magical field, at sunrise, the morning light flows over like thick golden syrup, accumulating in valleys and then slowly crawling over the top of an hillside. The same can be said about the night, which spreads like plum jam.Terry Pratchett Sunrise over Muckross Lake in Killarney, Co Kerry. On a…
The boats of Gougane Barra
Another early morning sunrise photo at Gougane Barra with Blarney Photography Club. Way back in 2016 I published a similar photo but the Gougane Barra boats were swapped. They’ve been there quite some time!
Sunrise over Muckross Lake
An early morning drive to the Lakes of Killarney this morning resulted in an eventful trip for Blarney Photography Club today. Rain didn’t spoil the sunrise, but a trip afterwards to the Gap of Dunloe didn’t go so well with a literal storm blowing up between the hills. The photo above is from Dinis Cottage…
St. Finbarr’s Oratory
On an island in Gougane Barra, just as the sun broke over the horizon behind me. Yesterday was the feast day of St. Finbarr. More to be found in this fascinating blog post.
