41 had signed up but some couldn’t make it unfortunately. In the end, a more manageable 23 turned up. Here’s most of us as pictured afterwards in The Old Oak bar where we went for drinks and sandwiches. I had a great time today, I think everyone else did too by their reactions. The day…
Cork City Hall, on the banks of the River Lee. Shot on the same night as yesterday’s shot of Gardner House. Also not the first time I’ve posted a photo of City Hall! Only 9 places left for the photowalk. Unfortunately the weather forecast for Saturday is bad so umbrellas and raincoats are a must….
As I mentioned already in my Polish Coal post, my dad worked in Suttons Coals for years. Gardner House on the South Mall in Cork used to be called Suttons House but then coal’s fortunes changed. Oil and gas became more popular. Legislation banned any coal other than smokeless coal from urban areas and the…
Just beyond the pier at Kilkee Beach lie these rocks and pools of sea water.
A warning sign on the beach in Youghal, County Cork.
Youghal, last April. Coca Cola sells happiness while Tesco tries to sell bargains. PS. I just posted a gallery of photos from the IBA 09 photowalk last February.
A Reliant Robin, as seen in Charlesfort near Kinsale last March. Remember the one on Mr Bean? Wikipedia has more on this diminutive car.
“O’Briens’ HQ placed in examinership” according to this news report yesterday. This is their fairly recently opened (and more recently closed) “sandwich bar” on Oliver Plunkett Street here in Cork. Loved their Triple Decker, even if it was a little pricey. Hope the company survives.
They’re not daisies are they? They look like them, but they were for sale in a garden centre and I’m sure they wouldn’t be so bold as to offer the common daisy for sale?
The big wheel, as seen from The Atlantic Pond outside Pairc Ui Chaoimh in Cork. Sort of fitting that I post a photo of a fairground ride on the day that Michael Jackson is laid to rest. BTW – there are still places on the Cork photowalk on the 18th. It’s less than 2 weeks…
Clouds drift over the River Lee across from Blackrock Village about a week ago. I’m trying out the preview of Bibble 5 Pro at the moment. Great DAM features, although it is starting to slow down after importing about 90,000 images and it’s reading from an external USB 2.0 drive.
Gulls fight over a few crumbs of bread at the Lough in Cork. Taken during a photowalk there last year.
