Brilliant Winter Leaves

Just over a month ago, some of the trees around here still had leaves. I took the camera with me one evening when we went for a walk around the park.

The leaves were a lovely bright and vibrant colour, but obviously this has been a little touched up in the GIMP afterwards! 🙂

Gorbys Nightclub

This alley should be familiar to almost everyone in Cork. The entrance to Gorbys nightclub is halfway down there.

Many a Saturday night was spent queuing up to get in!

The lights at Finn’s Corner

A long exposure at f/22 creates the beautiful star like pinpoints of light and enough time to capture the light trail from passing cars.

No tripod, so I used street furniture to balance the camera!

Penneys from Drawbridge Street

Look carefully. The grey building in the background is Pennys on Patrick Street. This was taken on Drawbridge Street near Aroma. Once construction work commences in this view will be obscured forever.

This is the same site as yesterday’s shot of Dunnes Stores and the JCB, from a different angle.

A JCB in Dunnes Stores

Dunnes Stores on Patrick Street, Cork is no more. This is the back of the front of that building which has featured a number of times on my blog.

The whole block is now gone!

Lost in thought

Two teenage girls on Patrick’s Street, Cork. One is lost in thought, while the other chats away.

Do you recognise the Special K poster in the background?

The girl in Abrakebabra

A young girl waits for her food in Abrakebabra, Patrick St. in Cork. Her hard expression is softened by the little hearts on her jumper, but somehow I think she can stand up for herself ..

Good news! My car passed the NCT this morning! 🙂

How to buy jewellery gifts for Christmas

When shopping for jewellery gifts it’s important to note the following steps to make your life easier.

  • Make sure you start early. It’s already too late. Better luck next year. This lady started her shopping on November 10th!
  • Examine the shop window in meticulous detail. Bring a magnifying glass.
  • Drag an unfortunate shop assistant out into the cold, wind and wet to show him which item you want to buy, before changing your mind and looking at something else.

Don’t worry about price. The piece you like will always be the most expensive.

Pictured is the premises of Hilser Bros Jewllers on the Grand Parade, Cork.

Special K Diet

“Shape up your day” with the Special K diet according to Kelloggs.

Your shape. Your way. With Kelloggs Special K of course. That stuff is full of salt isn’t it? Having said that, I do love a bowl of Frosties. Never lasts long in the house. Good thing I haven’t bought a packet in years!

‘Course, I could just be talking about Ketamine too. 🙂

Irish Adult Store

There are I think 3 adult stores in Cork. Two are down by Parnell Place, or at least they were, and the other is pictured above!

One of the adult stores in Cork is down a small, narrow little road called Grafton Street. The alley is so small that it doesn’t even appear on Google Maps. It does show on Yahoo Maps but you’d be forgiven if you never noticed it before.

This was shot from the Grand Parade multi-storey car park which backs onto the road. I was really happy to get the flashing neon sign while it was illuminated!

The Sony repair centre is just across the alley from the store, the only reason I’ve ever gone down there, when I tried to get my Sony 717 repaired.

No, before you ask, I’ve never darkened the doorway of any of those shops!

The boys are asleep

Oh the relief when the baby falls asleep. Twice the fun when you have two, eh Ryan?

A mother pushes a buggy with her two sons across Patrick Street in Cork while the two lads sleep serenely.

The car in the background is what caught my attention in the first place. Do you recognise it?

Chemtrails Conspiracy

Look up. The trails of cloud or “chemtrails” left by planes could be poisoning you! Really! It’s all on the Internet!

The Chemtrail conspiracy theory claims that some trails left behind jet aircraft are different in appearance and quality from those of normal contrails, may be composed of harmful chemicals, and are being deliberately produced, and covered up by the government. These unusual trails are referred to as “chemtrails” (a portmanteau of “chemical trails”).
