Green Seaweed

Green seaweed grows on stumps of wood on the beach at Youghal. I can only guess that these stumps are a protection against the powerful force of the tides. Aren’t they?
Check out the Youghal category for another shot of this beach!

The Heron and the bars

Last in the series of Heron shots. I took over 100 shots of this bird so I’d be certain of getting a good photo and this is my favourite despite the ugly vertical bars!
He was walking towards the bridge and I crouched down and focused on him through the bars of the bridge. I’m glad I went to the extra effort now.

Heron on the river and pipe

A Heron pictured on the River Lee through the bars of the Christy Ring Bridge, Cork. He waded through the water looking for food in the river bed but except for the occasional rock didn’t have much luck in finding his dinner.

This is the second of three photos in this series.

Heron on the river and trolley

A Heron pictured on the River Lee through the bars of the Christy Ring Bridge, Cork. Moments before I got close enough, two other herons flew away down the river.
Despite the rubbish and trolleys in the river it’s a great sign to see wild life again.

This is the first of three photos which I will post over the next few days.

A Crowd Pleaser

More mono cycle madness on St. Patrick Street! This is near the end of his act. The crowd really enjoyed his show!

Buy a hot dog

I’d call them hot dogs simply because I’m ignorant of the German name used on the sign outside this stall. Whatever they’re called they were delicious!

All good stuff

Is chocolate bad and contain calories if it’s all organic and good and pure and sold in a homely fashion? Go on, you know you want some!

46 stars and lots of stripes

How long ago was the United States made up of 46 states? According to this site it was 1908! This flag may date back to that time because it was brought back from there by my grandfather in 1929 or the early 1930’s.

I must say thanks to my Uncle Ray for bringing that flag along to a family get-together tonight!

Joe, the Devil and an Angel

Joe was a simple man. He is like most of us haunted by his own devils but also protected by an angel by his side.
In this street drama Joe was continually tempted by the devil, but then he found a small bird lying dead on the ground. What will he do? Leave it there for someone to walk on or a car to roll over or bury it with some dignity?
Thankfully Joe’s Angel gained the upper hand and with some ceremony Joe buried the poor bird in a nearby bin.
