San Francisco DPT on the job

The San Francisco Department of Parking and Traffic (DPT) have painted the kerb of the sidewalk in the city to designate different parking areas in the city.
Wandering around the city I was struck by the startling paint job on the ground, especially the “warning” colours used. It didn’t stop people double parking though, but I didn’t spot any traffic cops around either!

Are you kidding. In San Francisco you will immediately get a ticket for anything! The talent of the DPT lies in that they can surprise you, appearing and disspaearing like spirits.
According to the San Francisco Examiner, “About $84 million in revenue from citations is projected to come in this year, whereas last fiscal year citations brought in $88.2 million, according to the Board of Supervisors legislative analyst report.
The report further stated that only 22.3 percent of the maximum potential revenue is being collected from The City’s parking meters.” 20 January 2007.
