Kinsale at Night

Posted on 02 July 2008

The quiet, residential part of Kinsale as photographed from the busy touristy part across the harbour! This was a long exposure shot that came out quite nicely but it did show up the dead pixels on my sensor again. Good thing I don’t have time to shoot many of these types of photos nowadays.

The fight against comment spammers never ends. This blog is listed on a few “do follow” listings and I caught someone this morning leaving a comment after they came here from a “site:inphotos.org” Google search. The comment is delinked but even if I hadn’t, his url still wouldn’t have shown because I only show it after a certain number of comments have been made. It’s my thank you to the regular commenters here. The pagerank you get from that link isn’t diluted by the spammers.

PS. Phil O’Kane will be in Cork next weekend from Friday to Sunday. I’ll be meeting him at Robodock at 3pm and hopefully before but maybe we can get a small photomeet together at some stage on Saturday or Sunday?

With some lessons in how to use my 20D properly too??

Shots like that make me realise I am a bluffer.

Gavin – if you’re there I’m sure you’ll hear more than you ever wanted to about how to use the 20D. I know it almost inside out!

Grannymar – you’re too kind but this is actually sort of easy to shoot. I just put the camera on a wall and pointed it in the right direction, but sshhh, don’t tell anyone that!
If I had wanted it to look even better I would have changed the aperture to F22 which makes the street lights look like stars in a beautiful way like the ones in Starlight Headlights. I think Jacinta and Adam were with me so I couldn’t dawdle..

Ooh! That is an awesone shot Donncha.

The weather was certainly in your favour. I’ve been messing about trying to get decent night shots here but failing miserably. I can’t quite get to grips with my aperature and exposure settings.

I think it looks better without the starlight effect though. It just looks more natural because unlike Starlight Headlights – there is no sense of momentum, nothing moving unlike the cars in Starlight. And the water is like glass capturing the reflections perfectly.

I do enjoy your blog, I miss my time in Ireland…
Your shot of Kinsale reminds me of Fishy Fishy Café and their orgasmic Fish Chowder :)

    Thanks for the memories!!
