If you walk along the Mardyke in Cork you’re sure to have spotted this green area nestled in off the main road. Does anyone know anything about it?

PS. Here is where this is. Google Maps don’t have it on their map, but you can make out the green area in the center of the map above. The Flickr/Yahoo map does better, naming this green area Alverna. Cool

  1. I’ve been in two of those houses, as I knew a few people who rented rooms there at different times. From what I’ve seen they’re pretty typical for the area.

  2. Thanks for the picture of Alverna Terrace on the Mardyke, No. 13 used to be my mother’s house, what a surprise to see the terrace on the net! No’s 13 and 14 are a bit to the right of the photograph and face the Mardyke. I remember the Erinville Hospital being built in the 1960’s.

  3. It would be cool to live someplace where you had actual old buildings. Most of the places here in Las Vegas are less than 50 years old (and if they are on the strip, they get demolished and rebuilt). They are starting to build places like that here, with a common courtyard surrounded by residential buildings. I’m curious, what do they rent for?
