A slightly different version of yesteryday’s black and white shot of the River Lee. Which one do you prefer?
Both photos are great, but I like the “A touch of color” a bit more. It seems to pull my eye more down the river and into the photo.

I prefer the colour version. to be honest… i think the cloud at the top centre is a little over-exposed and i don’t think this is as emphasised so much in this version.

Sorry Donncha, never explained why:
I prefer the colour version because of the contrast. The very middle of the picture is grey so you have a brilliant contrast of blue sky and blue water above and below.
The reflections on the water help that, especially the church because it makes the picture really look like a mirror image.

This one… but I find it hard to describe why… I think it’s something to do with the subject matter being water - it can be pretty oppressive without some colour - and I think this hints at it just right.

Wow, I didn’t honestly expect anyone to respond to my question! Thank you all. I think I agree with you. This version is better, possibly because the previous image is too dark. I should have dodged the dark areas a bit.

just to throw in my €0.02 worth, the colour version is much better to look at. i feel the b/w one is too lonesome! how about that for a technical explanation!!
