A BMW parked in Blarney. I like the colour, I think it’s the urban acid thing all over again!

The steeple of St. Anne’s Church, or “Shandon Bells” as viewed from near the Opera House in Cork. Traffic is as usual stuck at the lights close by ..

On the night when firemen closed off Dorothy Perkins in Cork, a few people saw my camera and presumed I was a photojournalist. Some even asked what was happening but I didn’t know!
Anyway, these two girls wanted their photo taken. They presumed I was with the Evening Echo but I told them photography was just my hobby. Still, got a nice photo considering I was shooting by available light.
I don’t want to be reminded how high I had to shove the ISO to get a decent shutter speed. Thankfully resizing loses some of the noise!
PS. we passed by the shop a few days ago. A sign on the door says, “Closed until further notice”. Does anyone know what happened there?

This is the centre of Blarney village. It’s a lovely large green, enclosed on all sides by walls and with gates on the north and south sides.
Just goes to show, it’s not always raining in Ireland!

A small girl sits on (I presume) her dad’s shoulders on Patrick’s Street. In the background is the Savoy Shopping Center, and of course the building side behind Dunnes is clearly visible in the scaffolding supports to the far left.

The houses and roofs of the North Side, Cork City.
This was taken from Carroll’s Quay carpark almost a month ago. I love the old-style quality of the image, even if the shadow of the dish at the bottom detracts from that a bit.
Check out Stabarinde’s Christmas in Cork shots. I’m glad my photos inspire you! There are a few gorgeous night shots in that set.

Next time you’re in Blarney sit down on the benches next to Super Valu. Wait a few minutes and this cat will probably appear, especially in warm weather! 🙂

Traffic stops at the lights by the building site of the Elysian. I passed by the other side of it, past the low rise section of the building and it towers over the street.
It’s massive!

Christmas decorations on Paul Street, Cork a few days before Christmas Day last year.
Hand held, and I hoped to get a “normal” straight shot but it’s hard to crouch down while wearing a jacket and pushing a buggy so it’s lopsided. I prefer it that way!
Conversion to b/w I think brings out the descending pattern of the lights along the street although the original image wasn’t that saturated with colour to begin with.

During the Christmas rush I went searching for gifts for my wife and the first place I went was Susan’s Fine Silver on Marlboro Street in Cork.
This is Susan’s husband Barry, and that’s Michael replacing merchandise in the window. Both were very helpful and I got two lovely gifts for Jacinta. Thanks for your help!
We popped in there this afternoon because I couldn’t remember Barry and Michael’s names. Lucky we did because Barry hadn’t told his wife that I was posting this picture.
Latest news on the lens is that they’re waiting on a piece from Sigma Japan. So much for it being fixed and in transit. That’s almost 2 months to fix my lens.

Oh, delicious spam! How I love you so! I want to spread you on sandwiches and lick the knife clean! Oh Yum!
Or not. I’ve never tasted the edible variety of spam, but like everyone else online I’ve had my fair share of spam emails, comments and blogs.
This is the real spam, made by Hormel. I spotted it in a store in San Francisco and snapped a quick shot of the aisle. Unfortunately the light was bad but, if you’ve never come across it before, it’s a novelty worth posting, right?
Current spam stats:
1. Inphotos: 8510
2. Holy Shmoly!: 21689

Spam is here to stay.
