The Bright Side of the Streets
I have a good reason for photographing this perfectly ordinary scene. Over the years I’ve taken photos of men sitting on that electricity box, and this just adds to that collection. First there was this photo of Liam Foley, an elderly man enjoying a cigarette. He passed away 2 months after that photo was taken….
Silhouettes Under the Bridge
A man and a woman look along the shoreline of the Thames in London, probably for old pieces of pipe which are common along there. Above us was the modern Blackfriars Railway Bridge, and of course off in the distance is the London skyline.
Stop and Look Up
If you look up, you might see something towering overhead. Gleaming glass towers stretching up until they seem to pierce the clouds themselves.
A Solitary Figure in Birmingham
Walking along Corporation Street, I was watching out for interesting people to photograph when I saw a man watching people walking past. We’d just come out of Grand Central Shopping Centre, the sun was shining, and I quickly walked over to the shaded part of the street. It was too warm for me. Might have…
Last Stand of R&H Hall

The R&H Hall building is now gone, and even Google Maps have updated their streetview so this same view of Victoria Road is now quite different. The R&H Hall grain silo towers, built in 1934 and 1954, stood…
Trump Tower Construction by the River
Chicago in 2005 was a city in flux, and nowhere was that more obvious than at the Trump Tower construction site, right on the banks of the Chicago River. I was walking at the edge of the site and took a bunch of photos, some of which I’ve posted over the years. What you see…
The world in reflection
On a cold December night in 2018, I was taking photographs of reflected light in the puddles of the Docklands in Cork along with others from Blarney Photography Club. Henry would have been on the light stick, and I’m sure I’ve posted other photos from the night, over the years as the lights are striking.
Silhouettes of Lisbon at Dusk
A glorious sunset over Lisbon in late 2023. The famous 25 de Abril Bridge is there, of course, as well as construction cranes nearby working in building sites.
Reflections on Wilton Terrace
A glass fronted building on Wilton Terrace is reflected in the waters of the canal in Dublin earlier this month. I thought it might be the Canadian Embassy, but Google Maps shows it’s a slightly different building.
