Night falls over Quebec as we finish our tour and photowalk around the city. ISO 1600 came in very useful as the sky got darker! Pictured here are a few of the buildings just outside the old city walls. I think the Hilton is the building on the right.

The beach at Fountainstown in County Cork faces east but in the twilight there’s still a glow in that direction. Tullagh Cemetery in Baltimore, Co Cork, Ireland is just a field away from the excellent Casey’s Hotel where we spent the last week. I went down there one evening to shoot a couple of half capsized trawlers in the bay when I turned around and saw some of the headstones silhouetted against the setting sun….

When I’d look out on the desert landscape and watch the sun soak away as night fell I was always reminded of Terry Pratchett’s description of sunrise on Discworld where the sunlight slowly filled in all the dark parts of the landscape.

An Fear Marbh, or “The Dead Man” in English lies off the coast of Co. Kerry. I posted another photo of the island taken on the same night as this one here, but it was such a beautiful evening I took quite a few shots!
