Glengarriff River

This is a picturesque stream that runs through Glengarriff Nature Reserve in Co. Cork. We went for a short walk close by but by the time we got here it was getting late in the afternoon and Adam was getting hungry!

Sheep in a Kerry field

Wooah, digging into the archives here. This was shot in September 2006 while on holiday in Dingle. It’s a field on Slea Head at the tip of the Dingle Peninsula.

It’s hard to see in the web version but I love the brooding clouds in the large image!

How very phallic of you

A desert plant growing near the ranch we stayed at in Arizona.

I only thought of the title after seeing this image in b/w, but err, it suits doesn’t it?

Call of the evening

A bird atop the light outside my house calls into the glowing evening sky heralding the end of 2007.

After walking Oscar I had to grab my camera and shoot the beautiful evening sky. The background was this colour, there’s no trickery here except a little vignetting and sharpening.

Trees on the Marina

The trees along the Marina in Blackrock, Cork are bare at the this time of year but the sun shone today as if it was the height of Summer. It was lovely, even with the biting wind.

Shot from the grounds of Pairc Ui Chaoimh (no relation!) while out walking with my sister, my son Adam who slept quietly in his buggy, and my dog Oscar who loved the long walk.

The Lough Daffodils

We walked around The Lough and wandered over to the daffodils growing by the footpath at one of the lake. That’s Sean Murphy in the background as he preps some of his equipment to take a shot.

Probably my last photo from the Lough Photowalk!

Swans on The Lough

Swans swim past on The Lough in Cork City. This was one of the first photos I took at the recent photowalk there. Despite the clear blue sky and lovely light it was quite cold with a biting wind!

Three’s a crowd

Some of the swans at the Lough a few weeks ago during the photo walk. Got a few more shots from that session to post!

Feed the swans at the Lough

Girls feed the swans at the Lough on Sunday afternoon.

Urban acid 🙂

Will posted his first photo from the day on his blog. He did arrive late, but he made up for lost time!

The Swan’s Wings

You really only appreciate how large and imposing a swan is when they rear up out of the water and spread their magnificent wings. While at The Lough on Sunday there were a number of fights between swans. Guess it’s that time of the year again, eh?

The swans were fairly tame towards us humans, and allowed us to shoot quite closely, but I’ve had run ins with swans before and I’m always suspicious of them!

Katie caught me as I lay on the ground to get a shot of The Lough Church. Embarrassed? Me? Never, I’ve been in many other more compromising situations just to get a shot!

Ryan posted a whole set of photos from the day and Kevin has posted his first shot.
