Sunlight on the River
Have you ever read Terry Pratchett’s description of the dawn light as it flows over Discworld? Not so much flows, but rather sluggishly crawls over the landscape. Loved that and that’s what comes to mind sometimes when I see photos like this. Pictured in the grounds of Blarney Castle last week.
Shaky Bridge on the Lee
The Shaky Bridge, Or Daly’s Bridge, spans the River Lee near Fitzgerald Park in Cork City.
Barren and Snow
This private road up to Blarney Castle was covered in snow, the trees were bare and every inch of grass wore the familiar white coat of a recent snow fall. Taken yesterday morning while the snow fell. It’s -3C here in Blarney this morning and feels even colder! Brrrrr
Water Tyre near Inchigeelagh
Inchigeelagh, Cork, Ireland. June 2012. After a trip to Gougane Barra where I photographed the usual suspects we stopped in Inchigeelagh and took a walk by the river. Near the end of the walk this tyre hangs from a tree into the river where I presume kids jumped into the water when the weather is…
Waterloo Geocache
There’s a geocache close to where I live near the village of Waterloo. It’s hidden away next to a bridge but I have not been able to find it despite my best efforts. Still, got a photo out of the walk there yesterday.
Deckchairs on the beach
Deckchairs on the beach at Seaside in Florida. Taken early in the morning before the day time humidity and temperature hit!
Boats in Drake’s Pool

Quite frosty but many people out walking the light from the setting sun was amazing. Yes, this location is associated with Sir Francis Drake: The…
Saint Finbarre’s Sunset
St Finbarre’s Cathedral silhouetted against the sunset in Cork yesterday. It was freezing cold but the skies were mostly clear and snow hasn’t fallen in the City or here in Blarney either yet. The country is going through a recession but you wouldn’t know it. After driving around Parnell Place twice I parked in Merchant’s…
Five Arches
The bridge spanning the river outside Abbeystrowry Cemetery near Skibereen in County Cork. My wife was driving, I was able to enjoy the scenery! 🙂
The chains that bind
A disused chain lies forgotten on the ground near the lighthouse on Mizen Head, County Cork.
Bantry Field
A field in Bantry, County Cork. Way up in the hills surrounding the town.
Silver Lining over Couminole
No matter how bad the day, how crummy and wet the weather is, there’s always a silver lining. This day on the Slea Head the silver lining was the fact that our toddler slept the whole drive around, and of course this photo. This is the beach at Couminole on Slea Head in County Kerry….
