De-construction on Grand Parade
De-construction on Grand Parade The construction site that is the Grand Parade right now but it will soon look like Patrick’s Street with broad pavements, paving and those flag bearing poles that are so prominent on our main thoroughfare. No Fred photos today, I haven’t had time to work on any. Expect more next week!
Rock Landscape
Rock Landscape Limpits cling tightly to a rock in Church Bay.
Old Rope
Old Rope Old rope tied to a rusty old screw embedded in weather beaten mortar at Church Bay near Crosshaven. I used to dive off this rock about 10 years ago, mind you the tide was in whenever I did!
West Cork Landscape
West Cork Landscape The beautiful countryside north-east of Dunmanway in West Cork.
Cobh Boats
Cobh Boats I would hazard a guess that these boats are a semi-permanent feature of the Cobh seafront as they’re berthed there each time I have visited! I love the cobbles of the slipway, and the way the water catches theevening light. Looks like I’m not the only photoblogger to visit Lanzarote recently!
Seaweed rope
Seaweed rope I like the dreamy diffused glow of this image. It was shot down in Inchadony Beach a few weeks back. Howto: First of all, I had to straighten the horizon because it was at a precarious angle. I used two layers, I saturated the colours slightly in the bottom layer to bring out…
The Groins of Youghal
The Groins of Youghal Final photograph of the groins in Youghal. For the time being. Thanks to Collin and Stuart who told me what they’re called! 🙂
On the beach at Youghal
On the beach at Youghal Last weekend we visited Youghal in Co. Cork. I haven’t been on the beach there for years and I had quite forgotten how big it is! It was nice for a walk, but we were frozen from the cold wind. I was just in town. Big Brother were supposed to…
Glendalough Lower Lake
Glendalough Lower Lake Glendalough derives it’s name from the Irish name for the area, “Gleann Da Loch” which roughly translates as “glen of the two lakes”. It was a cold enough day so we only got a good look at the lower lake, but I’m looking forward to visiting again!
Glendalough Bridge
Glendalough Bridge We spent last weekend driving – up to Bray in Co. Wicklow, visited Glendalough, The Sally Gap and promptly got lost a few times on the way to Avoca! On Sunday we returned to Cork, but took a detour via Tullow and Carlow to visit Killkenny. We called to friends in Fermoy and…
Boole woz ‘ere
Boole woz ‘ere George Boole, the inventor of boolean algebra lived in the last house on the right of this photo from 1849 to 1855. I’m certain that most Cork people pass this house daily and haven’t a clue as to it’s previous occupant’s contribution to the world we live in today.
