Attack of the Paddy’s Day Monster
Patty? I’ll give them Patty! A monster descends on a spectator at the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Cork this year. I think she was amused! 🙂

Knott’s Badges
Will Knott has a fine collection of badges on his bag. Shot at the pre-iba09 photowalk a few weeks ago.
Tricolour Boy
A young boy sits on his dad’s shoulders to get a bird’s eye view of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Cork this year. This image reminds me of a photo I shot of a girl last year. She was standing on a wall or something and up high too!
Patrick’s Day Spectator
A spectator watching the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Cork yesterday climbed up on the National Monument on the Grand Parade to get a better view. Lucky him. As I said yesterday, it was easier and more enjoyable photographing the parade spectators than the parade!
La Fheile Phadraig i gCorcaigh
‘Se seo Lá Fhéile Phadraig inniu. Chuaigh me isteach sa chathair (gan an chlann) chun féachaint ar an paráid ach ni fhacha me moran de. Bhi an meid sin daoine ann. Ni raibh paisti in ann aon rud a fheisceant in aon chor. Bhi sé nios éasca agus bhain me nios mo taineamh as pictuiri…
The National Monument
The National Monument, Grand Parade Cork was erected in 1906 to commemorate those who died in uprisings against the British in 1867 and 1798. It’s one of the few parts of the Grand Parade that hasn’t changed much despite all the redevelopment of the city.
Looking for a parking space
You’re in town and desperately looking for a parking place. Where do you go? All the on-street parking has either been removed because of road works or taken by everyone who went shopping at 9am. Just look up. There’s a multi storey carpark somewhere near you. Probably. Front of the car park on The Grand…
Rainbow Umbrella
A child opens a rainbow coloured umbrella outside Cork City Library last Saturday. Rain threatened most of the day so it was a good idea to have an umbrella with you, just in case. Phil is blogging the photos he took, and posted about his trip to Cork too.
Musical Sunglasses
A brass band played in front of Cork City Library today and I made this shot while waiting with Phil and his brother Christopher for Damien to appear. We didn’t make it to Robodock in the end. I was busy and exhausted with a sick baby all morning and I think I’m lucky I managed…
Honda 70
Honda 70 At first glance I thought this was a Honda 50 but closer inspection of the sticker reveals a “70”. There is more text that could be COB but if the Wikipedia page on the bike is right, it was probaby “CD” on it before it was ripped. Shot on the Grand Parade, right…
So many light trails
So many light trails Light trails from passing cars fill the frame with a golden glow on the corner of The Grand Parade and Washington Street, Cork. Long exposure shot made possible by the traffic light switch on which I rested my camera!
