The tide is out at Fountainstown
The tide was out on this evening when we visited Fountainstown in Co Cork in 2006. This photo of a boat was taken across those mud flats on a later visit so there’s plenty of opportunity for photographers there.
Sunset Glow at Doneraile Park
The setting sun cast a beautiful glow on the trees near Doneraile House in Doneraile Park in November 2006. That was a cold day, wind blew through us despite the warm coats we wore. My wife was pregnant at the time and we were in the park with her sister Gerry so it’s a memorable…
Reflections on Kinsale
If you walk along the quay in Kinsale, Co Cork and glance across the harbour you’ll see the houses above. I’ve always wondered who lives over there and what do they think of the busy tourist town across the water.
Beamish
When you come to Ireland you go looking for a Guinness don’t you? Well, if you’re in Cork, you must try local stouts, Beamish or Murphy’s. I’m not a big fan of any of them but the Cork stouts are sweeter than Guinness, and nicer IMO. Signs in Blackpool, Cork.

Irish Highway

Hellmann’s Mayonnaise
Hellmann’s Mayonnaise, the fisherman’s friend. Shot in Fountainstown, Co Cork.
Shadows at Tragumna
Shadows are cast by the late afternoon sun at Tragumna Beach near Skibereen in Co Cork. This was my first time at the this beach, it was practically deserted except for a couple in their car who watched the waves.
Parallel Wires
Wires everywhere. You don’t really notice them unless you’re a photographer and then you curse them for spoiling a beautiful landscape.
Bantry Boats in Black and White
Boats tied up on the quay in Bantry, Co Cork.
