Clouds move at night
Clouds move at night Clouds fly across the sky in this nighttime shot of Cork City. A crane is in the middle distance, practically a symbol of the City at this stage. The building site in the foreground is on the old site of the Guy And Company building. There’s St. Anne’s Church or Shandon…
Sunlight in the city
Sunlight in the city The sun hides behind the buildings and street furniture of Patrick’s Street in Cork.
Sky High Cork City
Sky High Cork City Cork City as seen from the top of the carpark on the Grand Parade. The big ugly white building is the tax office on O’Sullivan’s Quay, the church is a disused one nearby. I’m not sure of the name off the top of my head, anyone? Technique: 1. Use two layers,…
Orange stripes and white clouds
Orange stripes and white clouds The orange stripes of the road lead off into the Conor Pass, north of Dingle in Co. Kerry. This was taken in September last year and they did a great job of improving the road. The cloud you see is fog that literally rolled in off the hills. One moment…
Donkey in the field
Donkey in the field I almost made an ass of myself and forget to post a picture today! You’d be saying to yourselves, “He haw-lways posts a picture every day, where is today’s one?” Never fear, here it is and I’ve run out of donkey jokes so it’s back to normal. Feel free to contribute…
Lifebelt in the grass
Lifebelt in the grass A lifebelt lay in the grass at a beach on the Dingle Peninsula, Co. Kerry last September. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, beautiful clouds contrasted with the deep blue of the sky and a light breeze blew off the sea. We were just going back to the…
MEH! No Parking!
MEH! No Parking! Ah graffiti! That most visible of teenage expression on our streets and walls. Anyway, I can’t remember where I took this. It could be one of the side streets off St. Patrick’s Street, but that’s about as vague as “somewhere in Cork” to be honest. Typical Heineken banner flying in the background…
Feeding the horse
Feeding the horse Feeding a horse in a field near Dingle in Co. Kerry. It was a gorgeous beautiful day last September. The sky was blue and dotted with clouds and the sun shone brightly.
No Entry to Tuckey Street
No Entry to Tucky Street Tuckey Street is a one way street that joins The Grand Parade with South Main Street in Cork. In typical Irish fashion, the one-way has been reversed over the last few years and anyway, the road works on The Grand Parade make getting onto the street a bit more difficult…
Blue skies contrail and clouds
Blue skies contrail and clouds A wall of the Beamish and Crawford Brewery blocks the sun in this shot taken on South Main Street, Cork. Blue skies are great for sun worshippers but photographers don’t like them. It’s always better to have some cloud or interest in the sky. The fluffier and more solid the…
Shadows of prison and freedom
Shadows of prison and freedom A crow flies off into the freedom of the air with a crumb of bread he found on the pavement. The railings of nearby houses are like those of a prison keeping humans in and trapped and closed off. Who is free?
Clouds over the Lough
Clouds over the Lough Clouds gather and block out the sun over the Lough in Cork last year. The display was beautiful as light wispy clouds and dark brooding rain clouds skirted across the sky. The sun made one final effort to shine, but the clouds won out and it started to rain moments later.
