Sheep’s Head Cat
If you’ve been out to Sheep’s Head in Co Cork in the last year you may have come across this beautiful, friendly cat near the car park. I presume she lives in a nearby house. She had no problem with us stroking her and making friends with her but here she was warily watching some wandering cattle closely.

Hoppy says Happy Christmas!
I suspect Hoppy saw Santa last night as she was extra happy this morning!

The Cat Yawns
Zara yawns as she ponders the meaning of life. No. She just wants to know when her next meal will be.
This was taken just over 10 years ago when Zara was but a kitten, she’s a little bigger now! I shot this with my ancient Sony F717, my favourite camera of all time. It’s “only” 5MP, and horrendous at night but it had a cool infra red mode and I loved how the body of the camera swivelled around the lens. Unfortunately the motherboard in it failed prompting me to jump ship to a Canon DSLR!
North Cork Kittens
Budget 14 is started shortly but I doubt these kittens are interested. While visiting friends near Fermoy we went for a walk and came across 5 beautiful kittens wandering down the road. My wife scooped up one of them and a local resident stopped to take the kitten. Eventually, there were three cars parked along a narrow country road and 6 people gathered to try and house the kittens.
Luckily our friends had cat food which helped to lure the kittens but we could only grab three of them. The other two (including the black kitten in the photo above) weren’t as friendly. The three that were rescued are safe now but two of them are in need of a permanent home. Anyone want a really cute kitten?
The cat’s in the cradle
Michelle looks out from her home at the dreary wet day ahead and the annoying photographer in the doorway. A few seconds later she scampered off under the bushes but was back when I disappeared.
Cats love their comfort and Michelle is no exception. She’s spoilt rotten like most house cats and never has a worry in the world!
This is one of my first shots with my shiny new Canon 50mm f1.8 lens. It was delivered while I was at the conference on Wednesday and I’m very impressed already. It’s horribly sharp and fast. The shallow depth of field offered by an aperture of f1.8 is beautiful and falls off from the sharp in-focus bits really nicely.
