Sunrise in Santa Cruz, California and I have switched themes to the beautiful Hew.
I plan on uploading larger images in the future and of course they’ll all be CC-BY-SA.

I was there too
A seagull on the pier in Santa Cruz, California.
This was taken early one morning on a sunrise photowalk with Marcus. It was so early I almost slept in and had to hurry to catch up with him!
One from a few months back. Automattic held their annual grand meetup in California this year and we split our time between San Francisco and Santa Cruz. On our final night in Santa Cruz there was a small party for everyone and fire dancers appeared to entertain us. I was across the poll from them and guessed a long exposure might work better than an instant of time frozen by a brazen flash in the dark!

Waves crash on the beach in front of the hotel in Santa Cruz where Automattic recently held a company meetup.
This was the view from my hotel room at The Dream Inn, Santa Cruz last week. Seems like a million miles away now, but in fact it’s only about, oh, maybe six thousand miles.
Anyway, I was there with almost all of Automattic for our annual meetup. It’s a fabulous location, the early morning light is amazing and the people I was with were great.
Lots more photos to follow, but in the meantime, check out photos by Kevin, John, Krista, Marcus and Beau and when I find more I’ll link to them from here!

I was in the city with Automattic and we stayed in a nearby hotel so Union Square was a good spot to get photos. Can’t remember what occasion this fashion show was on for. I think it may have been some fashion school or something!

I arrived in San Diego a few hours ago and the first thing I noticed when I got into my hotel room was the amazing view of the Pacific Ocean. This doesn’t do it justice as the foreground is a little too dark but I wanted to get it uploaded with minimum fuss so here ya go!

In an emergency such as a fire you want to be able to escape from a building quickly and be assured that there’s plenty of water to fight the flames. I presume these capped pipes have something to do with that purpose?

San Francisco as seen from the hills surrounding the City. I took this back in August 2006.
Can you tell yet that I merged a few of my work directories after doing some house keeping work on my photo archive?
Thanks to Niall Kennedy for driving us up there!

Oh, delicious spam! How I love you so! I want to spread you on sandwiches and lick the knife clean! Oh Yum!
Or not. I’ve never tasted the edible variety of spam, but like everyone else online I’ve had my fair share of spam emails, comments and blogs.
This is the real spam, made by Hormel. I spotted it in a store in San Francisco and snapped a quick shot of the aisle. Unfortunately the light was bad but, if you’ve never come across it before, it’s a novelty worth posting, right?
Current spam stats:
1. Inphotos: 8510
2. Holy Shmoly!: 21689
3. Gmail: 2176
Spam is here to stay.
