To Kiss the Blarney Stone
If you ever wondered where the Blarney Stone was just look up. This shot was taken from a balcony looking into the exposed interior of Blarney Castle. The people at the top of the building are standing around the Blarney Stone and it looks like there’s one brave soul yet to perform the deed. The…
Barren and Snow
This private road up to Blarney Castle was covered in snow, the trees were bare and every inch of grass wore the familiar white coat of a recent snow fall. Taken yesterday morning while the snow fell. It’s -3C here in Blarney this morning and feels even colder! Brrrrr
Blarney in the Snow
It started to snow this morning in Blarney shortly after 6:30am and it has snowed continually for the last few hours. There’s a nice white coat on the grass and trees but the roads have turned to slush making them somewhat treacherous. They’ll be a lot worse if the snow freezes so I hope it…
The Fiery Sky
The Sun shone on the underside of the clouds this morning, lighting them up in a blaze of glory. Moments later the gloom had settled in, the Sun disappeared and an hour later the rain had started. Ah well.
The Golden Road
It’s a beautiful frosty morning so I couldn’t resist the urge to take a couple of shots of this driveway up to Blarney Castle. You may even recognise it from the WordPress theme Twenty Ten.
One Eye Oscar!
Shih Tzu dogs need a lot of grooming and Oscar is no exception. This is him in the snow on Christmas Day last year. Good thing he had all that fur as it was freezing!
St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Blarney
I took part in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade here in Blarney today along with my son and wife. We walked with the Community Preschool group and I am utterly amazed at the stamina of young kids! Little 3 and 4 year olds walked around Blarney and still had energy left to play with bubbles…
Restricted Bridge
A bridge carries the Cork to Dublin train over a local road near Blarney.
Snowing in Blarney
It snowed in Blarney today. First snow of the season fell 2 days ago but was barely a few flakes that fell overnight. Today’s snow covered the area in a blank of white, but thankfully didn’t last too long! Roads are still affected and unfortunately there’s a steep hill coming into my estate.
Crowded daffodils
Daffodils at the end of our estate line the edge of the road in a beautiful display. Edit: I’ve just heard the sad news about Danny O’Brien. I never met him but his photography was always amazing. I hope his site can stay online for a long time so people can appreciate his work. My…
Patient Dog
Patient or not? A dog waits as his owner chats at the farmers market in Blarney on St. Patrick’s Day this year. More Photos.
False dawn of the city
As you may have already guessed, that’s not the dawn. It’s the lights of Cork City (and Blarney) shining and into the sky in a long exposure shot I made last August. I had meant to mention this sooner but 2 weeks ago I was shocked to hear about the death of Debbie Metrustry (@debbiemet),…
