Call me Spike
Call me Spike Frost covered weeds still manage to grow and thrive in the cold. I saw this wonderful speckled white plant growing from a ditch yesterday morning and it looked very ominous. When I converted it to black and white I saw myself looking at something abstract, possibly evil, something that could be microscopic…
Emergency!
Emergency! In an emergency such as a fire you want to be able to escape from a building quickly and be assured that there’s plenty of water to fight the flames. I presume these capped pipes have something to do with that purpose?
Unnamed Beauty
Unnamed Beauty This is one of the beautiful girls who modeled for Mallow Camera Club in September 2006. I can’t remember her name, and at the time I was totally unhappy with the image, but maybe it’s because I haven’t looked at it in a long time, I really like it now. I shot several…
Carroll’s Quay Apartments
Carroll’s Quay Apartments This is the apartment block that sprang up opposite the car park, from which I took this photo. The building itself is a dull grey monstrosity. Large windows look out on the street, hardly offering any privacy for residents. Tiny balconies sit outside some of the windows.
Emerald House B&B
Emerald House B&B At the corner of the main green in Blarney sits Emerald House B&B. I’ve never stayed there but they have a great location, right next to Blarney Castle.
St. Anne’s looking down on traffic
St. Anne’s looking down on traffic The steeple of St. Anne’s Church, or “Shandon Bells” as viewed from near the Opera House in Cork. Traffic is as usual stuck at the lights close by ..
Smiling pretty girls
Smiling pretty girls On the night when firemen closed off Dorothy Perkins in Cork, a few people saw my camera and presumed I was a photojournalist. Some even asked what was happening but I didn’t know! Anyway, these two girls wanted their photo taken. They presumed I was with the Evening Echo but I told…
Girl on dad’s shoulders
Girl on dad’s shoulders A small girl sits on (I presume) her dad’s shoulders on Patrick’s Street. In the background is the Savoy Shopping Center, and of course the building side behind Dunnes is clearly visible in the scaffolding supports to the far left.
Rooftop Surveillance
Rooftop Surveillance The houses and roofs of the North Side, Cork City. This was taken from Carroll’s Quay carpark almost a month ago. I love the old-style quality of the image, even if the shadow of the dish at the bottom detracts from that a bit. Check out Stabarinde’s Christmas in Cork shots. I’m glad…
Cables to the Heavens
Cables to the Heavens Cables from a crane on the construction site at the old Guy & Company building in Cork.
Christmas decorations on high
Christmas decorations on high Christmas decorations on Paul Street, Cork a few days before Christmas Day last year. Hand held, and I hoped to get a “normal” straight shot but it’s hard to crouch down while wearing a jacket and pushing a buggy so it’s lopsided. I prefer it that way! Conversion to b/w I…
Susan’s Fine Silver
Susan’s Fine Silver During the Christmas rush I went searching for gifts for my wife and the first place I went was Susan’s Fine Silver on Marlboro Street in Cork. This is Susan’s husband Barry, and that’s Michael replacing merchandise in the window. Both were very helpful and I got two lovely gifts for Jacinta….
