I looked through a gate and saw a tunnel. Doors at the end were lit up in a courtyard. Barely noticed on the main street in Cobh.

I was there too
Nestled in a cul-de-sac in the middle of Cork City lies this quiet street. It’s not easy to get to, being down a narrow side street, or through a pedestrian tunnel between buildings. I’ve only walked past it a few times, and I’ve posted photos of the chimneys on these houses a few times here.

The remains of the pier where people boarded boats to take them to the Titanic and other ships. 123 people left Cobh here to board the Titanic that was moored off Roche’s Point, at the mouth of the harbour.
In March 2018, plans were approved for an observation walkway and ticket kiosk, but thankfully they were rejected in April 2019.

That container isn’t going anywhere fast. Yeah, weird subject for a photo but it was to the side of a pub. I’ve seen those containers used to carry glass bottles around but this one is past that now.

The murals and graffiti on the hoarding on Sullivan’s Quay, Cork changes all the time and the evening I shot this it bore the text, “Mind is like a garden”. You can see a mural in the background that I posted yesterday, and two women walking past.

The fiery, red hair of the mural on Sullivan’s Quay contrasts with the blue and dark background of the picture. I like the “no parking” sign, even if it’s distracting. I like the way the shadow of the pole and sign lies on the wall, duplicating the solid in the 2D world of the wall.

The colours of a sunset captured in the sweep of an ICM photo. Dark to bright orange and a bit of dark at the bottom where the roof of a house was.
I wish Adobe would use their AI to do an automated spot healing tool. My sensor needs cleaning and there were lots of specks that needed to be cloned out in this photo. They can already highlight them. They just need to go that one final step…

A blue door spotted on my travels around Cork. The building is in need of repair, like many in Cork. That wall and window have definitely seen better days.

Behind a closed gate, you’ll find a lovely mural on a wall in Tucky Street. Look more closely at the pillars beneath it, and you’ll see they belonged to the library a long time ago!

A “NO BICYCLE PARKING” sign in the window of a tax consultants, warns young people they shouldn’t lock their bikes to the railing outside.
Actually understandable, as there’s a school next door..
