Chugging away at Christmas Time

At the SHARE crib on St. Patrick’s Street, Cork earlier this month. Street fundraisers for SHARE were everywhere again this month, and even had tap-and-pay machines to pay by credit card or phone.

The Ferris Wheel through the Crystall Ball

As seen in a previous photo of the Ferris Wheel on the Grand Parade in Cork, the crystall ball that Henry brought along was a very useful prop.

Here we are at the top of the car park looking down on the big wheel. It surrounds the crystal ball, but the wheel itself can be seen upside down in the ball.

Now I’m remembering how cold it was that evening and how I wished I’d brought my gloves. Must get fingerless gloves so I can use the camera.

Lights along the Lee

Lights along the River Lee a couple of weeks ago when I joined Henry and Vivien for some photography. Henry got a fabulous shot of the wheel.

I’ll be posting some more shots of this over the next few days.

The Lights of the Samuel Beckett Bridge

The Samuel Beckett Bridge in Dublin and the lights of the Convention Centre Dublin fight for attention. Red and Green lights reflect off the River Liffey on a warm October evening earlier this year.

A Tour of Coventry Music Museum

Last June I visited The Coventry Music Museum. It’s a wonderful experience for anyone who knows anything about Ska music.

After hearing the sad news that Terry Hall passed away I had to dig up these photos for you. There were so many nice messages on Mastodon this morning on the #TerryHall hashtag I think a lot of people will be interested to see the actual car that was used in the Ghost Town video.

The car was found in a very bad state of disrepair and was lovingly restored by fans who volunteer at the museum.

The bedroom has a huge number of posters and just stuff that you’ll recognise if you grew up in the UK or Ireland in the 80s.

The guitar is a Fender Telecaster that was signed by all The Specials prior to their return in 2008.

The organ was used by Jerry Dammers in Ghost Town.

This is only a selection of what’s there in the museum. If you’re around Coventry it’s well worth a visit!

Oscar in the snow

Twelve years ago today, it had snowed heavily in Blarney. I took Oscar out for a walk that morning and brought my camera along because of the snow!

I don’t think he really minded the cold, but he was always happy to get home, snow or not!
