• In the future we won’t talk at all

People ordering food in McDonalds using their kiosks. Four people are at the machines, mostly dressed for the night in dark clothes and coats while one young woman is dressed as if it wasn't cold and wet outside.

We just tap tap tap on the screens to order. The man watching me take the photo never said a word either.

It was Halloween, did you notice the horns on her head?

Two people walking up the steps of a narrow street. They have two balloons in the shape of a 7 and a 0, and a large fake bottle of champagne.

  • Place your bets at the races

Before the races start at the Point to Point, the bookies are quiet. Signs and umbrellas and a few people.

I’ve only been to a few point to point or other horse races, but you can rely on there being bookies present to take your money.

A Jack Russell lying in the shade at the recent Dawstown Point-to-Point horse racing. It was warm, and the sun was bright, so he made a beeline for the shade afforded by his human dad standing nearby.

  • The Horse in the box

A horse in a horsebox looks out at me from across the road.

On the day before the Dingle Races I saw a horse looking out of a horse box. His owner had gone into the nearby petrol station and came back a few minutes later.

  • Global Warning

A man on the street with a large sign warning "Global Warning". A woman carrying a shopping bag is listening patiently.

I’m not quite sure what to say about this man and his “Global War n ing” sign. I’ve talked to him a few times as he’s stood at the same spot most Saturdays for the last few years. All I know, is he’s a crack pot conspiracy theorist.

  • Construction of the Camden Quay Hotel

Construction work on a building site in Cork City. A tall yellow crane is visible under a sky half full of clouds. Tiny figures of men can be seen on the building site working on laying down steel supports.

The old site of the hotel on Camden Quay is being redeveloped. It’s gone through many phases over the years, and it’s soon to be a 3 star hotel.

  • Plants grow everywhere

A few straggling plants grow out of the down pipe of the gutters on a building. The old tiles on the roof are visible as are two windows built into the roof.

Near the top of Patrick’s Hill in Cork I spotted these plants growing from the gutter of a building. Good thing plants don’t have a fear of heights because there was a large drop from there. 🙂

  • Morley’s Hire

A detail from the building of Morley's Suit Hire on Daunt Square in Cork. It's shot from inside the McDonalds across the Square so the frame of the window is visible

If you need to hire a suit in Cork, then Morley’s might be one place you’ll go to. I saw their building across Daunt Square in McDonald’s and I liked how the window and furniture framed it.
