    Flash Harry in 2021

A few more photos of Flash Harry from their September 2021 performance in the Opera House, Cork. They played there recently but I didn’t get to see them. They are a great Queen tribute band however. Go see them if you can!

Posting these because I wanted to test out Topaz Denoise on some high ISO noisy images. It did a fabulous job cleaning them up!

Mike Gray posted some great photos of musicians performing on his Twitter account, and he said he used DXO PureRAW. I was going to try the free trial of that but since I already had Denoise I wanted to give that a proper go at these images. Very happy with it too.

Catching the sun at the beach

A boy catches the sun at the beach with his fishing rod. It was all he caught that evening, but I think he made some happy memories.

    Blackbird in the bushes

A very busy blackbird stopped still for 5 seconds so I could catch a photo of it. He was digging around, throwing up leaves and hunting around between branches. Building material for a nest perhaps?

Some of the statues that decorate the entrances to St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral in Cork.

Taken while we waited for the Cathedral to open so we could hear beautiful classical music played that evening by London Concertante.

    The Round Tower in Ardmore

The round tower in the cemetery in Ardmore is really impressive, standing out on the hillside overlooking the town.

The tower was built in the 12th century but it has been kept in great condition. Lots more to learn about it on this page.

    Morning Light on Blarney Castle

This morning is a beautiful start to the week. Fog in the distance and the fiery orange ball of the sun shining through clear skies. Blarney Castle was lit up in a lovely orange glow and I had to spend a few minutes away from the busy bustle of life to get this photo.

  • Where the wind blows

    Where the wind blows

This is the weather vane at the top of the tower on the Cork District Court. It used to be a school, An Módh Scoil, or Model School, where I attended in the eighties.

I’d never seen this weather vane up close and level like this before until a few days ago when I made this photo. From my memory, there’s a doorway to the tower near the main entrance to the building. I’ve never been up there but I was always curious about it.

They’ve done an amazing job of preserving this building. It didn’t looks quite as good when it was simply a primary school!
