My Happy Baby

Little baby Adam passed another major milestone in his life yesterday. Last night he slept in his own room for the first time!

He slept soundly until about 3am, woke and made a bit of fuss until he fell asleep again until about 6am when he was happy enough to kick about his cot for a while until we got up and fed him.

Just over a week ago he started on solid food. That was fun!

Charity photo exhibit in Mallow

The Mayor of Mallow, Cllr. Noel O’Connor at Mallow Library at the start of the Mallow Camera Club photography exhibit.

Members of Mallow Camera Club and the public gather at the photo exhibit in the Library.

Sean O’Riordan talks about the trip to South Africa with the Niall Mellon Township Trust.

My photo of Brendan O’Carroll in the top left!

The photography exhibit last night was a great success. I don’t think there were any sales, but it was nice to see everyone again, and the number of babies prompted a few people to comment that the club should get a creche in ..

John Doheny has updated the original announcement post with more photos. Thanks to Damien and Donal for linking back to my post. Hopefully someone will remember over the next few weeks that the exhibit is in the library and pop in for a look!

Update! Thanks Conor and Tom for linking too!

Shih Tzu and the Ball

Shih Tzu dogs love to play ball! We only found this out after a dog trainer came to the house and “ruffled his fur” a bit and in the process Oscar became a lot more relaxed.

Now he adores playing ball and even one mention of, “where’s the ball?” and his tail wags and he looks up expectantly for the ball!

This was a bit of an experiment. I’m not so sure how this will look on the web, but full screen the textures of the grass and his fur contrast nicely – rough, hard, and sharp versus soft and cloudy. Not your usual pet photo but why be boring and ordinary eh?

The groomed Shih Tzu

Our pet Shih Tzu, Oscar, has been suffering under the unusual August weather. It’s actually quite warm, and his long coat is more useful for colder weather. So this morning we had him groomed and doesn’t he look cute?

Is it a bird, is it a plane, no! It’s the sky!

I have no idea what they were looking at because there wasn’t anything flying overhead. Better than waiting for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade to start I suppose!

Taken on Paddy’s Day this year on Patrick’s Street, or Panna as it’s locally known.

Shih Tzu playing ball on the beach

Our pet Shih Tzu, Oscar with a tennis ball in his mouth on Garrettstown Beach a few weeks before Adam was born last April.
He loves running after the ball, but the poor little doggy is a bit lame right now. We took him to the vet who couldn’t find anything wrong. This has happened before and he recovered so fingers crossed he gets better this time too.
The strange thing is, it only affects him when he’s walking on pavements or roads. On grass he’s almost fine, and at home you wouldn’t know it from his running around! Dog psychology?

Girl with the leprechauns in her hair

On Patrick’s Day all sorts of head gear and clothes are worn by people all over the world. This girl had a hair band with 2 leprechauns on springy stalks! See the shamrock on her cheek?

Shot on St. Patrick’s Street, Cork last March.

The face painting girl

This young lady was painting the faces of kids at the Midleton Food and Drink Festival when I took this photo. She was really enjoying herself as were the kids!

Kilbrittain 6 miles

A sign points to Kilbrittain in Co. Cork near the beach at Garrettstown.

Has it been 2 years already Ryan? My Flickr account expires in February 2008 so I have a bit more time on my hands. It’s been well worth it however!

Blue skies contrail and clouds

A wall of the Beamish and Crawford Brewery blocks the sun in this shot taken on South Main Street, Cork.

Blue skies are great for sun worshippers but photographers don’t like them. It’s always better to have some cloud or interest in the sky. The fluffier and more solid the better, as long as some blue sky can be seen.

Daisies in the ruins

Boarded up windows, grey walls, overgrown vegetation. It can only be an Irish hospital right?

This is the final picture in my Old Hospital series.
