On the Boardwalk
Phew! What a day! Today we had a great photowalk in Cork. I hesitate to say this, but I think it was probably the most enjoyable photowalk I’ve ever been on. We started out in the Montenotte Hotel, with tea and scones and a chat. After refreshments we headed up on the roof for a…

Anything but Guinness
So, today is Arthur’s Day, a celebration of 250 years of Guinness. Well, sorry, but I don’t like Guinness and this is obviously a cheap marketing ploy by a large multi-national to drive sales of a declining beverage. Seems to have worked. Me? I may just open that bottle of Leffe. Yum.

Kite Surfer
A lone kite surfer flies through the water at Garrettstown Beach in County Cork a few weeks ago. Last weekend with the good weather the beach was packed, but we were there when it was cold, rain drizzled, and a cold wind whipped up the fine sand everywhere. Place was deserted. I like this photo….
John Lynch The Fenian
A plaque on a wall on Devonshire Street in Cork records the capture of a Fenian in 1865. JOHN LYNCH THE FENIAN CAPTURED HERE SEPTEMBER 1865 DIED WOKING PRISON JANUARY 1866 There’s more, this page has quite a bit on him, but also gives a different date for his death. John Lynch was a widower…
