Poolbeg Power station behind gates
I spotted this gate at the Forty Foot in Dún Laoghaire yesterday, and then noticed the decommissioned Poolbeg Power station was visible through the bars. There weren’t any swimmers about at this end of the Forty Foot, so I got a few photos of two iconic symbols of Dublin in one scene! Aperture ƒ/8 Camera…

Paddleboarding with his dog
I was in Dún Laoghaire today on a beautiful afternoon. Sandycove Beach and the Forty Foot were both thronged with swimmers and people relaxing. I wish I brought my togs and a towel, but I had my camera and snapped a photo of this gentleman with his dog out on the water, paddleboarding! Aperture ƒ/8…

A cat on a car roof
A tabby cat on a car roof, down a narrow street in Athens. He watched us carefully as we walked past, but he’s obviously used to people and didn’t budge at all, even as a stopped and took a few photos of him. Aperture ƒ/2.8 Camera ILCE-7M3 Focal length 24mm ISO 1250 Shutter speed 1/500s

Reach for the skies
Figueres, in Catalonia, Spain is where Salvador Dali was born in 1904. You’ll find the Dalí Theatre and Museum in the town and some of his statues scattered around the place. Here’s one that’s fairly close to the museum. It’s quite a surreal piece, and it was quite a sight to see it out in…

Hang on in there
Far above the waterfall at Mullinhassig, I found small shoots and leaves growing out of a tree trunk. Aperture ƒ/9 Camera ILCE-7M3 Focal length 139mm ISO 100 Shutter speed 5s

Queuing for the train
The metro station at Monastiraki Square in Athens, Greece, is rarely quiet, and we arrived just as people were getting on the train. Aperture ƒ/8 Camera ILCE-7M3 Focal length 16mm ISO 6400 Shutter speed 1/500s

That’s a steep hill
The Old Youghal Road takes a steep dive right next to Bell’s Field, but there’s a lovely view. No wonder he stopped for a moment to admire the view on a sunny evening a few years ago. Aperture ƒ/8 Camera ILCE-7M3 Focal length 157mm ISO 100 Shutter speed 1/160s

The Rocks of Ballycotton
The rocks of Ballycotton with the sea breaking on them reduced to a fog by a long exposure photo. Ballycotton Lighthouse is visible in the background on an island a few hundred metres offshore. I was there last night with Blarney Photography Club. A lovely evening taking photos and then a bit of a chat…
