I was waiting on Henry Street and spotted the deep shadows cast by the buildings, so it occurred to me that silhouettes would become a good subject for a photo. Luckily, a Deliveroo cyclist came along then and I captured him motionless as he rode past.
Getting a shot like this is half luck and half persistence. You have to wait until the incoming tide is about to retreat to take the photo. This one was at Kilfarrasy Beach in Co. Waterford in 2017. Blarney Photography Club was visiting the area and this was on the itinerary for the the evening…
IT Repairs on Oliver Plunkett Street hopefully had some bargains the day this man was peering carefully at their phones.
The tower of St. Anne’s Church has recently been renovated but this photo is from 2022, when it was still gritty. It looks all shiny now but I think it looked better back then. The clock faces all got a nice lick of paint though which is welcome!

Last night was our second time seeing Showdown – The ELO Experience play at Cyprus Avenue, and I think they might even have been even better than the previous time!
Groynes in the sand as the water rushes away to do battle with another wave coming in. The ever-present push and pull of the tide, defeated for some time at least by these wooden posts.
Two days of unbroken Cork sunshine had to end somewhere, and they ended like this. I was in the posh Dunnes in Bishopstown and when I came out the sunny sky became a brooding wall of cloud piling up overhead just as a jet lifted off. From the ground it looked tiny, but that’s distance…
