A crow lifted off the top of the barrier around the old Paintwell shop on Cornmarket Street, Cork, as I approached to get a closer shot. Its friends had already departed, but this one was cleaning its feathers and only looked up a moment before this photo was taken.

@donncha Magpies, rooks, jackdaws, ravens and the hoodie crow are our crows.It is a crow. The grey beak is distinctive. The crow family are mostly black beaks.The carrion crow is an all black version (not really in Ireland) of the hoodie (hooded, grey & black, not really in GB) crow. There is little overlap of range, You might get some hoodies in Western Scotland & some carrion crows in Co. Antrim. Hoodie & Carrion are very closely related.Ravens are biggest & I've never seen one.
