A Quiet Bench in a Busy City

·

Early morning in Spitalfields, near the market and I spotted a man enjoying a moment by himself in the nearby green area.

Is there a custom filter or a preset applied on this photo? It’s nice and would like to try it or learn how to edit a photo to feel this serene.

There’s some editing on it. The main thing you’re seeing here is:
      1. Set clarity to around -30 for that hazy look.
      2. Crush the brights and darks. S curve on the “Points” tone curve, with the dark point (on the far left) brought up to about 25, and bright point (far right) down to 233.
      3. Use colour grading to colourise the different parts of the photo, midtones = green, shadows = blue, highlights = orange.

I apply lots of sharpening, but on the edges:
      Amount: 90
      Radius: 0.80
      Detail: 25
      Masking: 84
(I rarely touch Radius and Detail, they’re whatever my import preset sets them, when I created that preset years ago, I should learn more about that)

Thanks. Interesting edit. Let me try it on one of my photos and come back, on how it works.
