On the way to Rocky Bay last week we spotted this field so we just had to take a few photos! This is also the first photo I’ve used Affinity Photo on. The original image is below.
I used the inpainting tool in Affinity Photo to get rid of the branches on the left and a few other things. I did try the same in Lightroom but the clone and heal tools just didn’t work nearly as well. Affinity photo is easy to set up as an external editor in Lightroom, and it even supports 16 bit colour which is a big bonus when working on images!

Hi! My name is Alyssa and I am an art major at Brigham Young University Idaho and I love your “the tree in the wheat field” photo. I was wondering if I could use this photo to paint for my final project in my oil painting class? It will only be used for class and I will not sell it. I have been looking for a great wheat field to paint and I absolutely love this one! Please let me know what you think. Thank you.
Alyssa – I’d be honoured if you painted it! If you’re happy with the final painting would you mind commenting here again with a photo of it? I’d love to see what you create.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. I will definitely send you a photo if it turns out well 🙂
