Negotiating a photography job

Photographers have a tough time negotiating with clients. Slightly NSFW speech but very funny video by Graham Trott about how to conduct yourself when offered a photo assignment. (via and here)

Hilarious! I want to make my own video!

Anyway, this is so true, specially now since “they’re now using the recession as an excuse to demand for lower fees”. I am really pissed off my low-balling clients. I worked with a lot of them when I was starting in photography.

I am more selective with clients now, so I dont experience this often. But if I do come across one, I tell them go kcuf themselves.

Its natural for clients (or most of them) to want to pay lower fees. For us photographers, we have to differentiate ourselves and market our services as being of higher quality than others.

Still, there would be others who are willing to undervalue themselves just to get a job. Times are tough so I can understand them… but it can have an effect on the photography industry as a whole if more and more people think that they can acquire our services cheaply
