Terminal 1 at Heathrow

Terminal 1 at Heathrow, just before we parked. Thanks Matt and Mary for a great few days!

Matt bought himself a shiny new Sony A200 on Saturday. It has built in image stabilisation that really helped when I took some shots inside a pub in Eton. If you’re on the look out for a very reasonably priced entry level DSLR I can recommend the Sony A200.

Camera Canon EOS 40D
Focal length 10mm
ISO 400
Shutter speed 1/5000s

So many memories!

Hanging around gates 86 to 88 waiting to depart for home. In a giant corrugated metal tube with no air-conditioning unless you were lucky enough to get access to the Aer Lingus Executive Lounge.

The real fun starts when you arrive in Terminal 1 and have to make it to Terminal 4 in 40 minutes or less.

I could never figure out why upon arriving in T1 you get a train to T4 but upon arriving at T4 you have to get a bus to T1.

Robert – yes, I’ve never seen anything like the Irish terminal at Heathrow! My little boy, Adam, was fascinated by them. We stopped at the shop just before security for some junk food and he kept pointing down the last tunnel and motioning for us to hurry up!

We spotted Paul Weller and his band near Gate 80. Almost all of them were wearing sunglasses. Is there something about popstars that they have to wear them, even in dimly lit corridors? Attracted more attention because of them. Unfortunately I had the wrong lens on my camera and didn’t feel like pestering him for a photo.

Mary – back to work for all of us today then! Hopefully should find time to post a few photos from the trip this week!
