Family at the beach

Dad carries the forgotten kite, daughter walks through the water and mom basks in the sun of a glorious September afternoon at Inch Strand, Co. Kerry.
Tonight is theme night at the camera club. My theme is “The sea” so I went through my archives yesterday choosing suitable photos. This will be one, which is possibly stretching the definition a little but it does have breaking waves on a beach.
Vignetting was done using an overlay layer and a separate overlay was used to make the shadows of the clouds deeper. I could have burned them in as well but I like the way it turned out.

Wherever you are today, please say a prayer for little Sophie Cotter who died yesterday. She was born a week ago, a premature baby at 24 weeks. The odds were against her but it still came as a shock when John rang this morning with the sad news.

wonderful photo, that 10-20 really gives is a great feeling. The people seem almost not important. but the mothers pose is too strong for that
I just discovered your beautiful photo site today. My mothers people were Welsh, my father’s Scotch-Irish. I love all things Celtic. I am a retired Architect in the States, disabled, and unable to make the walks and trips to see our beautiful world outside my confined little bit. I greatly enjoy your photography and especially architecture, old castles, coastline, landscapes, and people. Thank you for giving me a window onto something different than my driveway.
Inch Strand is a really special place… I absolutely love it. I’m there several times a years, every year since I can remember and hopefully I’ll be there again this weekend — although other things may have scuppered those plans
