Cobh Peoples Regatta – Flash Harry

Flash Harry, a Queen tribute band played to the crowd at the Cobh Peoples Regatta last weekend after the fireworks. They were great, driving the crowd wild!
*phew* This post took ages to do, had to get up early to work on this one. Hope you enjoy the photos!

Cool shots Donn, so sharp! Mine came out a little too fuzzy for my liking. Probably one or two that I might post tomorrow.
Thanks Donal, ISO 1600 helps but the post above took about 2 hours to do. I’m getting some breakfast!
Excellent shots, you’ve got a great set of impressive photos.
I’m on dial up, and it didn’t take long for these to load up at all.
What did you do to them? Do you use Noise Ninja by the way?
I used a GIMP plugin called Dcam Noise 2 which does a reasonable job. The default “max radius” is 5 pixels which is way too much so I drop it down to 2 pixels. It doesn’t smooth out all noise but it doesn’t smudge details either. I don’t have the full Noise Ninja so that was not an option.
Funnily enough, I had to do a search to find the plugin. One of my posts is near the bottom of that page!
Another useful noise reduction tool is “selective gaussian blur”. Make sure the settings are really low and it will only blur closely coloured pixels.

I just thought it was a loud pub but it turned out there was a Queen tribute band called Flash Harry playing in town. We went down to meet Donncha who took some great shots of the event. We hadn’t known this was on but they played a stormer. [...]
