Kite surfers in the cold
Yes, it was a cold November day when I photographed these two kite surfers at Garylucas Beach in Co Cork. Brrrr.
Tacking against the wind
A boat coming back to Crosshaven tacks against the wind. The houses of Curraghbinny are seen in the background.
Surfing at Garrettstown
Despite the cold temperature there were lots of people surfing at Garrettstown Beach today!
The boats of Cobh
Just some of the boats you’ll see in Cobh, Co Cork. January 2020.
A Couple and a Heron
While visiting Castletownbere I noticed two herons on the pier. They had a right ol’ fight. They were very aggressive! One flew away but this one was more adventurous looking for food.
Engine Trouble on the Lee
Spotted on the River Lee by the Marina in Cork a few weeks ago.
The Weir in Ballincollig Regional Park
On a particularly foggy morning in December 2002 I wandered around Ballincollig Regional Park. I photographed the weir that morning in the mist. Wasn’t much to be heard except the rushing of the water. Some fifteen years later the centre of the weir would collapse. The OPW may rebuild it at a cost of over…
Surfing at Ardmore
A brave young man surfs the waves at Ardmore, Co Waterford this afternoon. It was freezing, cold winds sucked any warmth from exposed skin but this guy was out there battling the waves!
Sunshine at Warren Beach
The sun shines at Warren Beach near Rosscarbery in Co Cork last October. Some brave people ventured into the sea. It was a lovely day but not exactly “get into the sea” warm!
The Barren Gap of Dunloe
The Gap of Dunloe in Co Kerry in February 2007. I was up there recently and it couldn’t have been more different. A storm blew down the valley making life miserable for anyone walking the roads or trying to take photos of this scenic area.
A New Day Dawns
The sun almost breaks over the horizon on a lovely October morning in Kerry last year. Happy new year! Thank you for visiting or subscribing to this blog. Please say hi in the comments! I’d love to hear from you!
Love on the Lee
St Patrick’s Bridge in the background, pictured from Mary Elmes Bridge. A love lock on the fence but thankfully there aren’t many on it. Love locks are a serious problem for structures as they add unplanned weight. Happy holidays! Hope you had a nice day today!
