Flooding in Fitzgerald Park

Fitzgerald Park in Cork City is a bit flooded after the recent rain. The children’s play area is totally flooded, as it’s lower than the surrounding ground, and the pond is overflowing onto the surrounding path.

They were waiting for the River Lee to overflow about an hour later!

Photos at the Vatican

After the crowds have gone on a cold November day in 2017, I visited St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican for some photos, and came across two women taking advantage of the quiet for some photos.

The sun had already set, and it wasn’t 5pm yet, but it was nice to be in such a normally crowded area with hardly anyone about.

A man and a blank mural

In contrast to the photo yesterday of the same bench in 2015 when a mural appeared on the wall, this photo from July 2019 features a blank wall.

An elderly man, with his walker sits on the same bench. I hope he made it through the COVID pandemic.

Surrounded by the sights of Cork

I wonder if this man checking his phone noticed the mural behind him in Bishop Lucey Park. In this fragment of the mural you can see the old Roches Stores building, Mangan’s Clock and Shandon Bells.

You won’t see that mural there now. This is a snapshot of it from 2015.
