A near miss on the water
I captured a near miss when I made this long exposure shot of a canal in Amsterdam. Two boats were heading towards each, and it was only by gunning the engines of the one that went under the bridge on the right that they missed each other. People on board must have watched nervously, but…
Ready to race
After the horses parade, the jockeys mount their horses for the coming race. Ice cream is always popular, even on a cold hilltop on race day. 🙂
An empty street in Seaside
This is something you won’t see often in The Truman Show, it’s an empty street. It’s not the same road as the one with the traffic jam in the movie, but it’s similar. It’s surreal walking around the town of Seaside in Florida after seeing The Truman Show.
Transparent Legs
On a busy street in Valencia, I took photos of the passing traffic under a cloudy sky lit by the setting sun. Another tourist decided they wanted to photograph the same scene and somehow failed to see me crouched near my camera. It wasn’t until his companion shouted at him to move that he obliged…
Pigeons take flight
I heard him say, “sorry”, when his dog barked and scared all the pigeons, but he did me a favour. The pigeons in Bishop Lucey Park weren’t doing much!
Met him eating mushrooms
Bishop Lucey Park in Cork is now a building site, but on this July day in 2023 it was just a quiet day in the city, with some cyclists, obviously.
It’s mine

Please, I can’t breathe
A mural on a wall in Santa Barbara shows George Floyd, and his words, “PLEASE, I CAN’T BREATHE”. The mural was painted by Griffin Lounsbury and Chad (Chadillac Green) Westmoreland. Here’s an article about the mural by a local newspaper.
Phone or dog?
Sometimes when out with your dog, they’re second in line for your attention after your phone.
Cruising in my car
I had no idea what make this car was when it drove past, but Google Images says it’s probably a Cadillac of some sort from the 1960s. It looked beautiful, whatever it was, and the guy driving knew it too.
Bored of Ducks
As they say, “When you’re bored of ducks, you’re bored of life.” I hope he had an exciting evening when he finished work!
A walk by the office
Walking between the Fire Station and City Hall in Cork, a shortcut from Anglesea Street to the nearby car park.
