A woman watches the tram I’m travelling on pass by her on a narrow street in Lisbon.
A few photos taken in Crosshaven in May 2023 when I visited there with Blarney Photography Club. A bit of fun with swirling the camera around as I took the photos.
This was the derelict site of the demolished tax office in Cork, but back in February 2019. What difference 6 years? Nothing really except they’ve removed the rubble. It’s still an ugly eye sore. They really should have put a park there if they’re not going to do anything with it.
In July 2022, I was in Llafranc and wondered if I’d be able to photograph the Milky Way. Dark skies maps of the area showed glowing lights all along the coast, and it seemed unlikely, but I wandered down to the beach one night to try. I was pleased with the result because there was…
In a field behind Wine Strand on the Dingle Peninsula, I spotted some hay bales. The sun had already set, but the sky wasn’t very interesting. The lay of the land cast an interesting shadow and I like photographing bales whenever I see them.
From Dooneen Pier on a lovely April day in 2022 I saw the Three Sisters off the distance. The sea was fairly calm, and the evening was warm for that time of the year. I think I spent a good hour wandering up and down the pier taking photos, until darkness descended, and I went…
A woman photographing a colourful mural turned out to be the perfect subject for a street photo.
I love the converging lines of columns like this. The stone work is so old, and here I am just sitting next to it taking a photo.
Buildings loom overhead at a corner of Pl. de la Constitución in Malaga.
When you walk into the Oceanogràfic de València in (guess where) Valencia, you’ll spot large glowing tanks of water. They’re underground, presumably to help keep them cool in the hot Spanish climate and unfortunately, most people just walked straight past them. Now, I’m not a huge fan of jellyfish, but they’re a beautiful animal to…
Jaysus, I nearly dropped me phone when I spotted this scene in the Musée d’Orsay like. There’s your man on the left, pure glued to his iPhone, probably updating his Insta or whatever, and the other fella hanging on to some pamphlet or other. And there in the middle, this massive marble yoke, probably worth…
I spotted this scene while walking up the hill next to the harbour in the old town of Puerto del Carmen. The peeling paint of the window frame attracted my attention, but then the modern signs stood out in contrast to the white painted wall. Just one of those things I like about looking around.
